III out of the box
Is it possible to install Locum with a III out of the box server?
We have 2 servers on 2 separate domains. The catalog server + the web server.
We've been told we can't install anything on the III server because that would invalidate our contract with III to maintain our ILS.

If I understand you correctly, you're asking is it possible to install Locum on a box other than your III box?
The answer is yes. In fact, we're in the same boat as you--we have no access to our III system. Locum, in our case, is installed on our web server which is a Debian Linux machine, wholly separate from the III server.
Thanks for the response!
What about domains though? The two servers are operating on two, separate sub-domains. We've been unable to utilize Cookie/Session information from the III logins thus far because of that.
Locum handles all of the ILS abstraction in a way that makes that distinction irrelevant. Essentially, all of your patron traffic comes in via SOPAC (Drupal). The patron will never actually browse to your ILS's catalog interface.
Thanks for your responses and patience. I was just told to look into this knowing virtually nothing about it, and we're going to have to justify it since it would require a "new" Linux box, which is not supported by the "real" IT server group.
Anyway, I downloaded and looked over the code. What is "harvesting?" Is it just page skimming? And does it duplicate the entire catalog into the MySQL, or is it interacting with it somehow?
Thanks again!
