Source of social data?
What connections are envisioned for the Insurge module in order to create that critical mass of user reviews and tags?
Other SOPAC 2.0 libraries?
BiblioCommons libraries?
Commercial bookseller sites with user reviews?
Social book sites like LibraryThing and Shelfari?
This is a very exciting development!

The purpose of the Insurge library is to allow repository members to share their social data and, thus, reach critical mass sooner. Of course, it will take some time for a repository to get to that stage. I think the point is that this project is in its infancy, but the potential is there for significant growth in terms of user-base and size of data.
As the project maintainer, we (Darien Library) are willing to work with other entities/companies that can help jump-start the process--providing we can ensure that the data and the project itself remains open and free.
I have to say that I think the Insurge concept is pretty cool, and couldn't come at a better time for the Library community.
We are looking at replacing our discovery layer right now, and whilst Drupal/SOPAC are not our cup of tea, I think the potential for Insurge to become a default metadata standard for social metadata between differing discovery layers is pretty neat.
It will allow Libraries to contribute collaboratively even if they end up with different discovery products.
Also, off-topic... but is there an RSS feed for the whole forum, or the three top levels? I can only seem to find quite low level ones.
That's exactly the concept and spirit of the Insurge project.
I will try to see if I can construct a feed url for all the forums and I'll make that available.
Quite simply, SOPAC is a Drupal module that depends on two software libraries--Locum and Insurge. Locum and Insurge are not part of the Drupal module because a) Drupal is actually not the best tool for the particular job they each do, and b) the functionality that both Locum and Insurge provide has the potential to be very useful in applications that have nothing to do with Drupal.
