Sean,
I wonder how much of your Unicorn code might be usable for a Horizon connector? Any thoughts on the subject?
Excellent! Thank you! I'm really looking forward to testing it out.
Hi Sean,
We are also using Sirsi/Dynix and I look forward to trying SOPAC2 in a test environment. John Blyberg had a post on his blog that said SOPAC2 could also be ported to Joomla. Our site uses Joomla 1.0.15 and I can't seem to find any version requirements ... or anything else related to Joomla/SOPAC. Can you shed any more light on this?
Thanks much!
Laurie
najibx,
It's true that many ILSs are comprehensive, but they are far from extensible. You're touching on an area of library systems management that has been discussed at length, and there are many complex issues that surround the state of the ILS software industry. Things like licensing costs, lack of APIs, product lines being end-of-lifed, and features that are slow to get to the market. In a perfect world, there would be no need for the Locum abstraction layer, but we're far from that point.
Hi,
I'm also interested in a connector for Unicorn. Sean, are you still working on this? I was looking into building it, but if you've already started maybe I can help.
Thanks,
Jessica
